Myringoplasty, performed by our surgeon Op. Dr. Nazlı Selvi and her team with many years of experience, is a surgery to repair a hole in the eardrum, also known as eardrum perforation. It may prevent infections and sometimes improve your hearing.
A perforated eardrum can be caused by trauma or an infection in your middle ear that bursts your eardrum. This problem can lead to recurrent ear infections and reduced hearing. The myringoplasty operation is usually performed under general anesthesia, sometimes under local anesthesia, and takes between an hour and an hour and a half.
In this operation, where you can trust the experience of Op. Dr. Nazlı Selvi, a piece of tissue called a graft is used to close the hole. The surgery may be done under your ear canal or through a small incision in the front or back of your ear. In this area, where Nazlı Selvi and her team have performed many successful surgeries for many years, the eardrum is usually lifted, the graft is placed under it, supported with a dissolvable sponge and your eardrum is replaced.
The entire team and our clinic are members of International Health Organisations and have completed the necessary certifications. They have an average of 15 years of surgical experience.
Our clinic is rated A+ by the Ministry of Health and accredited by JCI, representing gold standards in hygiene and quality.
Always trying to provide the best service, Op. Dr Nazlı Selvi offers all-inclusive packages from operation to accommodation and transportation.
Eardrum repair helps prevent recurrent middle ear infections and can improve your hearing. However, the possibility of hearing being affected by this surgery is a situation that may vary from person to person. Our surgeon Op. Dr. Nazlı Selvi will analyze the effects of the operation after the examination and will inform you in the light of this analysis.
The operation process and post-operative are concepts that can vary here, as in every operation. Necessary information will be shared with you by Op. Dr. Nazlı Selvi and her team during and after the operation. However, you can usually expect to be able to go home on the day of your procedure and return to work about two weeks later, depending on your job. It is advisable to have someone drop you off at home and stay with you for the first 24 hours.
There is usually not much pain after the procedure, but if you feel any discomfort, you can take painkillers without a prescription. You should avoid getting your ear wet after surgery. A helpful tip is to put petroleum jelly-coated cotton in your ear while showering or bathing. Op. Dr. Nazlı Selvi and her team will arrange a follow-up appointment approximately two or three weeks after your surgery to check the graft.
