The septum is a structure that divides the nose into two equal parts inside. It consists of cartilage in the front, a thin bone in the back, and its upper surface is covered with a skin-like covering called mucosa. However, there are nasal conchas on both sides of the nasal cavity, called turbinates, which warm and humidify the air, provide nasal secretions and are necessary for the continuation of nasal physiology. In a normal nose, the septum is in the midline. In the presence of a deviated septum, the air passage narrows. The examination of the problems experienced and the selection of the operation to be applied are very important. Op. Dr. Nazlı Selvi will make the right choice for you at this point and will ensure that the problem is solved successfully with her recommendations.
The treatment to be applied by our surgeon Op. Dr. Nazlı Selvi will be to correct the deviation in question with surgery. In this surgical technique, called septoplasty, the curved septum areas are fixed without damaging the mucosa while preserving the cartilage support. The most important point in this surgery is the preservation of the cartilage support that will protect the nasal skeleton. This operation, which requires experience, is completed successfully in the hands of Op. Dr. Nazlı Selvi and her team, who have performed the surgery dozens of times.
The entire team and our clinic are members of International Health Organisations and have completed the necessary certifications. They have an average of 15 years of surgical experience.
Our clinic is rated A+ by the Ministry of Health and accredited by JCI, representing gold standards in hygiene and quality.
Always trying to provide the best service, Op. Dr Nazlı Selvi offers all-inclusive packages from operation to accommodation and transportation.
Septoplasty may be performed alone or during rhinoplasty with septorhinoplasty, providing our surgeon Op. Dr. Nazlı Selvi and her team with more observation opportunities. If you are going to have rhinoplasty, you should know that this problem will also be corrected without having septum deviation surgery (septoplasty) beforehand.
Nasal packs placed in the nose after surgery are generally kept for a few days. However, the necessary recommendations will be presented to you by Op. Dr. Nazlı Selvi and her team. The packs used today are soft that do not hurt the nose and absorb the accumulated blood. Its application and removal do not cause pain.
The turbinates located on the sides of both parts of the nose (lower, middle, upper nose) have important roles in the physiology of the nose. However, in some cases, they may grow reactively (hypertrophy).
Concha hypertrophy may be especially on the opposite side of the part of the septum where it is curved. Thus, they cause nasal congestion. Concha hypertrophies seen during rhinoplasty may sometimes be corrected by surgery and sometimes by cauterization. Here, our surgeon Op. Dr. Nazlı Selvi will make the necessary decision and lead the most appropriate operation.
